Good news

he Baptism in the Spirit's effectiveness in reactivating baptism consists in this: finally man contributes his part -- namely, he makes a choice of faith, prepared in repentance, that allows the that allows the work of God to set itself free and to emanate all its strength. It is as if the plug is pulled and the light is switched on. The gift of God is finally "untied" and the Spirit is allowed to flow like a ftragrance in the Christian life.

During the night between Friday and Saturday, in the early morning hours of 10 June 2017, the Lord called back to Him a great man, Father Peter Hocken. He died at the age of almost 85. He was a servant of God, a friend, a priest who loyally served the Body of Christ until his last breath, all the world round. The Lord gave him an extraordinary intellect and wisdom, together with the experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit. He also received from God the talent and ability to provide specific and comprehensible theological explanations and descriptions of spiritual experiences that are taking place within the Church, notably after the Second Vatican Council.

"I have a dream," he began, "that one day on the red hills of Georgia, sons of former slaves and sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. "I have a dream my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

We all know, based on our personal experience, that the cooperation with most intelligent people is not often easy. These people usually do not establish friendship easily. It is interesting also that university graduates with an honour degree usually do not fit in to the working environment in the best way and that their high intellect is of a little help in overcoming personal or marriage crises.

The aim of the “Jesus Heals” prayer gatherings is experiencing the fact that God is Love. He is Love that wants to give itself to other people. God wants to show us His mercy even through healing, signs, wonders, and miracles.

The fastest Slovak. On 4. March 2017 won a silver medal at the Belgrade 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships, thanks to a wonderful performance in the 60 m dash: 6,58 seconds and new Slovak national record! He became the first Slovak athlete to reach the final stage of the shortest sprint event at European or worldwide level. He publicly confesses that he is running for the glory of God.

On 4 March 2017, in Belgrade, you won the fourth medal in the history of Slovak athletics in Indoor European Championships. Back in the past, Mikuláš Konopka had won a gold medal in Birmingham in 2007 (shot put) and Dana Velďáková got one bronze in Turin 2009 and another bronze in Paris 2011 (triple jump). What is the secret of such a success – hard and long lasting training, healthy way of living…?

I have annual preparation focused on development of all motion abilities, by increasing the volume and the intensity of charge. I have my trainings every day for about 2 hours and during concentration training even twice a day. Preparation of fit physical conditions is quite demanding, but sometimes I have hard time even during coordination training. An important integrating part of my preparation is active and passive regeneration. A healthy way of living is the basic principle for the success of a sportsman. For me it is more than obvious.

I liked your statement before Slovak national media: “Maybe you are going to smile, but I do track and field for the glory of God." Wonderful! Congratulations for your success and – above all – for your noble aim. What is the role of Jesus Christ in your life and – especially – in the achieved success?

I think Jesus plays a very important role. Faith in God helps me in difficult moments and also during competitions. I feel that God gives me His graces and blessing – and this is a huge support for me.

You achieved this success also thanks to the help of your trainer, Naďa Bendová. How does she concretely support you and how does she motivate and encourage you to work hard towards your new goals?

Without the support of a trainer, athletic preparation would be meaningless. My trainer encourages me during training when I have no strength to go on or in the moments in which things do not comply with our expectations. She also makes efforts to understand me. This is very important for me. Success pushes us forward and we get more and more motivated for further work. I am happy that my trainer establishes realistic goals to reach. And I am even happier when I surprise her.

In Slovakia we are always glad when our athletes achieve successes in international competitions. We long for positive and exemplary people. How exactly would you like to encourage or inspire people through your life story?

I think I can inspire especially children in my surroundings. And I am very happy for that. I showed them that, if people pursue their own goals, if they have faith and good people around them, then success will definitively arrive – even if conditions seem to be far from ideal. Young people must practice sports. Through sport activity they learn regularity, responsibility, and love for the things they do. When obstacles arrive, they learn how to overcome them.
