Good news

he Baptism in the Spirit's effectiveness in reactivating baptism consists in this: finally man contributes his part -- namely, he makes a choice of faith, prepared in repentance, that allows the that allows the work of God to set itself free and to emanate all its strength. It is as if the plug is pulled and the light is switched on. The gift of God is finally "untied" and the Spirit is allowed to flow like a ftragrance in the Christian life.

During the night between Friday and Saturday, in the early morning hours of 10 June 2017, the Lord called back to Him a great man, Father Peter Hocken. He died at the age of almost 85. He was a servant of God, a friend, a priest who loyally served the Body of Christ until his last breath, all the world round. The Lord gave him an extraordinary intellect and wisdom, together with the experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit. He also received from God the talent and ability to provide specific and comprehensible theological explanations and descriptions of spiritual experiences that are taking place within the Church, notably after the Second Vatican Council.

"I have a dream," he began, "that one day on the red hills of Georgia, sons of former slaves and sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. "I have a dream my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

We all know, based on our personal experience, that the cooperation with most intelligent people is not often easy. These people usually do not establish friendship easily. It is interesting also that university graduates with an honour degree usually do not fit in to the working environment in the best way and that their high intellect is of a little help in overcoming personal or marriage crises.

The aim of the “Jesus Heals” prayer gatherings is experiencing the fact that God is Love. He is Love that wants to give itself to other people. God wants to show us His mercy even through healing, signs, wonders, and miracles.

Hi, I’m Denis Chane-Sing-Guan, 43 y.o, French, but born on the lovely Réunion island!

Actually my life was “absolutely normal”, with caring parents, everything I could desire & want … But maybe the ‘essential’ was missing!

I was indeed baptized as baby, did my first communion. As my mom knew the priest, I went maybe ten times maximum to catechesis in order to prepare it, but not more! I never went to mass in 30 years as a matter of fact … I guess you can’t do worst !!

Following my Abitur, I went to Paris to do a business school. But after two years spent at Darty's european central purchasing office, I reached the threshold of a stage in my life. Although I have been actively involved in achieving my company's objectives and enjoying the benefits of this position, over the months I experienced a growing discomfort with the sense of what I was doing. As a result, I decided to step back and devote 14 months to the most neglected children and men in the world.

How I met Jesus?

Actually He came from so far away to bend over me & to pick me up … Nevertheless, to achieve this, I joined Heart's Home, a Catholic work of compassion and consolation. It proposes to young people to give one or two years of their lives to God, by sharing the life of a particularly disadvantaged neighborhood, within a small community. Heart's Home has "no other ambition than to be that smile, that drop of water, that hand that comes to offer itself on the way; to be that smile, that drop of water, that hand that allows us to go to the end of life."

So I was assigned in December 2006 to New York City, USA, where I met Him.

For me, it was the "big apple", or the "city that never sleeps" as Frank Sinatra used to sing. NYC is often associated with images that often appear on television, such as brick walls, iron stairs, smoking manholes, rooftop advertisements or yellow taxis. Great, you'll tell me!!!!! Long live Manhattan, Empire State building, Fifth & Madison avenues, Central Park, Times Square, the Met, Carnegie Hall, Broadway, Guggenheim museum ... But I was in the Bronx!!!!!! With the parish of Saint Francis of Assisi, Antonia Diaz Apartments (elderly), Woody Crest Center (AIDS patients), Lebanon Hospital, Fulton Hospital etc... and its Franciscans.

Jesus changed my life

As St. John of the Cross says: "On the evening of life, we will be judged on love. This same ‘love’ that is and remains the driving force of the mission, which is the only criterion according to which everything must be done or not be done, changed or not changed. This is the principle that must guide any action and the end to which it must be directed. When we act according to charity or when we are moved by charity, nothing is disadvantageous and everything is good."

He is helping me, day by day, patiently, to go deep down inside my heart and to enlarge it more & more, enabling me to love…

He gave me more confidence, a greater serenity, fullness & peace above all. A kind of total abandonment. Which doesn't mean it's easy every day! Difficulties, doubts, questioning & the temptation of discouragement are palpable at times. Nevertheless, if I do this 'work' for myself alone, I would never keep up... given the immensity, the disproportion of the task.

Naturally, I do not have the ambition to relieve [all] suffering, but simply to be close to a few people who are in pain, to this particular person. My consolation is then my closeness. Of course, I am always helpless in front of the crying person, but I am there, fully present, with all my being. Humbly, I do what I can do, with the most appropriate, respectful & delicate attitude.

I am very grateful for this grace that is offered to me today, to be able to respond to this call that I received and to live this beautiful experience in the service of others. My mission is like a breath of humanity and it helps me to put ‘Man’ in the center...

He also shows/fills me with generosity, availability, fecundity, a capacity for wonder, an open heart & hope, that are very precious to me in due time.
